Hotels are always thinking up new ideas to provide additional amenities for the guests to make their stay more comfortable, convenient and interesting. Ace Hotel which has earlier collaborated with top brands like Uniqlo, Converse, Opening Ceremony, and other, primarily fashion, brands to create something extra for the guests has now in partnership with Google has created a new Chromebook. The device will have an interactive map which will serve the purpose of a virtual concierge. The map come courtesy travel guide gurus Superfuture. The hotel will provide the notebook computer to its guests housed in a custom made felt slip cover for the duration of their stay in the city.
This is the first time that Ace hotel has collaborated for a high tech digital product and the partnership with Google is somewhat unusual for the hotel as they has traditionally depended on an old-world, analog, functional set of ideals. Superfuture, though has partnered the hotel on many projects as they like to call themselves the experts of urban cartography for global shopping. For this interactive map they have put together a detailed Field Guide of the best food, drinks, restaurants, art, design, and architecture hotspots in the neighborhood and around New York City.
Google has developed it into an application along with an interactive map that can be downloaded on Google Chrome. The application is not restricted to only the guests of the Ace Hotel. The app is simple but effective and interesting and the other hotels are sure to develop similar applications. The Chromebooks will be available for the guests at the Ace Hotel through September 1. To make the older generation guests feel comfortable Ace hotel has added a traditional notebook and ink pen in the slip cover for the personal use of the guests.
