High end lingerie, as a category is seeing a lot of action and it is showing in its growing sales. Victoria’s Secret had created the most expensive bra. It was the jewel encrusted 2011 Fantasy bra which was showcased in their fashion show and carries a price tag of $2.5 million. It had diamond studded lingerie clasps. The consistent growth in the category has encouraged the other players like Agent Provocateur to launch their own interpretation of a Playsuit in their high end ‘Soiree’ collection. Incidentally, the playsuit has been priced at $24,000. Agent Provocateur is known for its provocative and sexy designs of lingerie.
This time they have outdone themselves and created perhaps the hottest playsuit ever. Sarah Shotton, their creative director explained that their ultra luxurious playsuit has been handmade form tassels and Swarovski glass beads. The limited edition creations have been made from the finest silk, embroidered and hand finished. The Soiree collection is not exactly new but its distribution was restricted to few select Agent Provocateur boutiques or were available in global destination boutiques such as Harrods and Madison Avenue.
Now, for the first time, the entire collection has been launched online. The exciting line has a wide range, right from $312 knickers to a $24,000 leather playsuit.
The playsuit is on sale exclusively at Harrods. The pricing doesn’t look unusual at Harrods because they are known for retailing some of the most expensive items. It is a bondage style playsuit and the company has created it because there are people who don’t mind paying thousands of dollars for gold lingerie if it excites them.Garry Hogarth, CEO of Agent Provocateur feels that Soiree customers have accepted the higher price points. It is the golden period of lingerie shopping. Agent Provocateur came into the lime light when they launched a provocative collection at an extravagant fashion show in New York in 2009. The high priced though skimpy lingerie was studded with crystals and sparkling nipple cap and made their way into many celebrity wardrobes.
