One of the Largest Batman Memorabilia Collection to be Auctioned

Heritage Auctions has announced an unusual auction scheduled for November 15-17 in Beverly Hills, Calif. The items on auction will be from the Batman memorabilia collection of slain Florida millionaire, Ben Novack Jr. The auction is generating a lot of interest amongst the collectors as it is stated to be one of the largest Batman memorabilia set. It is a unique collection that Ben had created over the years and includes many authentic artifacts including a coin operated Batmobile ride for children. Some of the rare Batman comics include DC Comics’ first Batman edition from 1940 and a 1939 comic in which “The Batman” first appeared.

Experts at Heritage Auctions are excited about the auctions and as per their estimates it should generate revenue of over $1 million. Unlike sports memorabilia, very few pieces of the authentic articles in the collection are available anywhere. Ben Novack Jr. was the heir apparent of his father, Mr. Ben Novack Sr. who founded the Fontainebleau Hotel. Junior was murdered in a hotel room and his wife has since been charged with his murder. Under Florida laws she would not be inheriting Ben’s property if convicted of murder.

Heritage Auctions is projecting the upcoming auctions as one of the most important auctions of 2011. The Batman themed auctions are generally very successful and attract a lot of collectors. The size and the authenticity of the collection indicate that it could create a new record. The coin operated Batmobile kids ride could turn out to be the highlight of the auction, though some experts feel that it was not part of the original collection but was added later. It is expected to fetch around $20,000.
