If you have the money to spare, there is no end to the number bizarre things on which you could splash out. There are strange hotels, odd watches, even treadmill bicycles. For me, the height of bizarre was a $295 toothpaste squeezer. And now, I see something equally ridiculous, el Bagped – a stand for your bag. Honestly, when I first saw the picture on the Workiture website, I thought it was a chair with storage facilities. As I looked on, I realized my mistake. This was not a chair for me to sit on. It was a chair for my bag and belongings. Given that there are tables, shelves and a host of other chairs on which bags can be placed, I don’t see the point of the Bagped from Workiture. Is it fulfilling a niche demand? I sincerely doubt it. But criticisms aside, it looks quite neat.
The Bagped is constructed out of one-eighth-inch cold-rolled steel. This is then powder coated in four colors – carbon, arctic, silver and bronze glow. It would have been nice to have brighter shades – reds, yellows, blues, greens. But I suppose Workiture is looking at this as a piece of office furniture. So they kept the color palette dull.
Buyers have the option of adding a shelf made of either polyester or wool. These brighten up the Bagped to some extent. But price is going to be an issue. The basic version costs $169 while the one with the shelf costs $199. Given that this is just a stand for your bag, I wonder if it is worth all that money at all.
