New Swimsuit Collection by Olga Olsson Focuses on Design but not at the Cost of Ethical Practices

Ruth Ferguson, the founder of Olga Olsson is generally very vocal on the issue of ethical marketing. In a recent correspondence she clarified that ethics is intrinsic to the brand and that was the reason for her to start Olga Olsson. But when it comes to marketing, her focus is not ethics but design. You will believe her more when you see the new women’s and men’s swimsuit collection. You can check all the details along with photographs in the Tree Hugger Swimsuit issue.

Olga Olsson, the luxury swimsuit company is based in London. The company is quite serious about adapting sustainable and eco-friendly practices. They employ women artisans in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to craft their suits, and they’ve already garnered celebrity fans, including Kate Moss and Elle McPherson.

A lot of the inputs that goes into the making of the swimsuits are sustainable. They source local fabrics and trims and the dyes used are totally azo free. The tags are made from recycled components. A Fita do Bonfirm ribbon is attached to the tags and can be reused and worn as a Make a Wish bracelet. All of Olga Olsson workshops follow the Ethical Trading Initiative guidelines like all seamstresses work in a light and bright environment, are paid fair living wages and are transported to and from the studio.
