The Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon Light Armoured Patrol Vehicle 6.X Concept tells us that when two big names in the industry come together and spell armor and protection, they mean serious business.The LAPV 6.X version stands to be an improvement over its cousin LAP 5.4 with respect to increased levels of agility, protection and payload capacity. It features a high torque common rail diesel engine and can run at a speed of 150km/h with a cargo of 1.3 tones. The monocoque full steel body renders ballistic protection in times of crisis. It has a modular armour plate mechanism that allows quick replacement of damaged plated with new ones and also has a a mine deflector plate on the vehicles floor.
The vehicle is believed to set high standards for other armoured patrol auto makers. No wonder we find the leading supplier of military technology EADS joining hands here to pump in a host of innovative performance systems into LAP 6.X.
