This shall take your breath away. Just one look at the Caran d’Ache 1010 pen and you will know just the reason why. The Swiss baublemaker claims that the pen is a tribute to the special genius of watchmakers.
Aptly called 1010 to symbolise what we call ‘smiling time’, this stylish pen has non-working gears mounted on a sleeve just under the pen’s transparent surface for funsies.
The design is in tune with a fine timpiece. The clip looks like a watch hand, then there is a decorative balance wheel mounted between two rubies under a sapphire dome. Plus there are tiny tick marks around the barrel. And if that was not enough, there is a special ruby-encrusted piston pump that moves ink from its interior to the nib.
Priced at $19,000 makes it a luxury indeed. We know the times are tough but then we can always spare some moolah for window shopping, right!
