Harry Potter First Edition Fetched $40,000

Deserving authors earn a bulky sum for their witty productions. But point is what catches the interest of readers? Away from Shakespearean era, last Thursday the first edition of the 1997 Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (not Sorcerer’s Stone) generated a sum of $40,000 at an auction.

Only 500 copies were produced and this gives enough weight to its sales for being the first edition. At Hogwarts, around 335 million copies were sold globally. This clearly reflects the amount of respect among the readers for their dear J.K. Rowling. While the seven-book series is fully over as the final book got released last July, Rowling seems to be engrossed with her future endeavor’s, to be unveiled with a two-fold amount of mystery in it than Harry Potter series.
