Paddle8 is the New Art Based Social Network

Paddle8 is the name of the art based social network. The men behind the new and exciting project are all young, fresh faced and rich. Aditya Julka was previously backed by Accel Partners on two projects. Alexander Gilkes has previously been associated with the luxury brands conglomerate LVMH and Hikari Yokoyama is an established art adviser. The three coming together has resulted in the elite, members-only Internet art club Paddle8 which is being touted as the new destination for examining, understanding and acquiring unique artworks. It is an invite only club that seeks to maintain its exclusivity.

The plan at the moment is to have a curator present an online “show” based around a single theme every month. He or she will select carefully the artworks that will go in the show. Glenn O’Brien has the honor of being the first curator to present a show. The theme he has chosen to present is ‘The Art of Wit’. People wanting to become a member of this club will have to fill out an application that will be reviewed by a judging panel. The idea is to create a safe place for the serious art enthusiasts on the net.

The pieces included for the show will be accompanied by a dossier that provides context, insights and multiple pathways to understanding the artist’s practices. There are some names that come to mind straight away who could be ideally suited for this exclusive art club. Clint Roenisch could be one for his gallery on Queen Street. Kenneth Montague is the other for having one of the coolest collections in town. Michael Awad, Nicholas Metivier and Alexander Josephson could be the other suitable candidates.
