Spend $2 Million A Week To Hire Abramovich’s Superyacht Eclipse

Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich attracted a lot of media attention over his purchase of the superyacht Eclipse. The yacht was purchased during the height of the global financial crisis, but that was no deterrent to Abramovich, who shelled out $485 million for this gigayacht. However, maintaining this giant watercraft is proving to be an expensive proposition. According to reports, Abramovich spends $50 million a year on just basic maintenance and running of the yacht. A single fuel fill-up sets him back by $650,000.

Abramovich may have initially purchased this giant yacht for his own personal use. But the maintenance and running costs may have spurred him to put it up for hire. Of course, unless you are a multi-millionaire, you would not even be able to consider hiring this luxury yacht. It will cost a whopping $2 million a week to charter the Eclipse. The boat is available for charter via exclusive brokerage firm SuperYachtsMonaco.

The $2 million tag makes the 538-foot Blohm + Voss yacht the most expensive yacht charter in the world. This luxury yacht accommodates 30 guests and a 75-strong crew. This floating palace has numerous selling points. The superrich Abramovich is probably a stickler for security, for this superyacht comes with a military-grade missile defense system, armor plating and bulletproof windows. The ship also has three helipads. And guests in the mood for some swimming can choose between two pools. The nine decks of this boat also house a 5,000-square-foot master suite, a private theatre, a wellness center and 20 waterjets. Traveling in luxury just got more exciting.
