How would you like to see the iconic Aston Martin car on water? Your imagination probably transported you to a James Bond movie of yesteryears where Bond’s Aston Martin gets transformed into a boat of sorts at the mere push of a button. But that’s not what I am talking about. Miami based yacht designer par excellence, Luiz de Basto has designed a yacht that has been inspired heavily by the Vantage, Rapide, DBS and Virage models of Aston Martin. Called ‘Voyage’, this luxury yacht is quite the stunner.
The end result I must say is pretty impressive. De Basto has ensured that almost all the key design features of the car, be it the window shape, the roof line, the frontal grill, the hood, front and rear lights, reflects the Aston Martin image. The same sleek lines and a bucket load of style. What is even more impressive is that he has achieved all this without compromising the nautical design of the yacht.
The only disappointing thing about it is that it is at a concept stage only and although he has the company’s permission to use their name in the concept, it won’t actually see the light of the day. It beats me why they do not want to transform this great concept into reality. But I have a feeling that they might change their mind soon after seeing Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG and Lancia inspired high performance yachts in the market. If anything, Aston Martin only stands to gain from such an undertaking.
