Organized by HKTDC, the HK international Wine and Spirits Fair sports to be Asia’s most exciting wine and spirits event which serves as a platform for a wide range of high quality wine and spirits, beer and other alcoholic beverages, as well as wine production, products and services to buyers from all over the world.  This event touched a new high this year when Vinitaly, organizers of largest wine fair in the world also participated with more than 40 wineries and over 200 fine Italian wines.
Their prestigious first appearance included a series of events including cooking demonstrations by Italian Michelin Starred Chefs with wine pairings. The inaugural ceremony of the event was held on November 5th and was attended by Italian Counsel General Ms Alessandra Schiavo. The folks at Vinitaly conceded that this event has given them a lucrative opportunity to introduce a range of high quality wineries to China and Hong Kong’s potential buyers, the trade and general public.
Statistics say that Italy exported as much as US$12 Million worth wine to Hong Kong in 2009 and this was 20% more than their sales in the preceding year. These figures further substantiate the fact that Vinitaly’s participation in this event will turn out to be an extremely effective business strategy.
