Some people have all the luck. Take the case of Tamara Ecclestone, one of the high-flying daughters of F1 billionaire and the fourth richest Brit, Bernie Ecclestone. The extravagant lifestyle of Ecclestone’s two daughters Tamara and Petra has been tabloid fodder in recent months. And for all of Tamara’s claims about knowing the value for money, this stinking rich heiress has ordered a bathtub that costs £1 million. The superrich live differently from the rest of us commoners. Palatial homes, swanky jets and £1 million bathtubs are part of the deal. And sibling rivalry among the superrich is different as well.
In recent times, tabloids have been harping about the spending habits of 27-year-old Tamara and 22-year-old Petra. The latter’s £5 million wedding set tabloid tongues wagging. The wedding made headlines for Petra’s £80,000 Vera Wang dress and for entertainment that included performers like the Black Eyed Peas, Alicia Keys, Andrea Boccelli, DJ David Guetta, Eric Clapton and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The event certainly heralded the arrival of the Ecclestone sisters in the ultra high-end circles. Three months earlier, Petra made news for splashing out on a £91 million mansion in Los Angeles, which formerly belonged to “Last Dynasty” creator Aaron Spelling.
So it is no surprise that Tamara is looking to outdo her little sister on the spending scale, even if it is a subconscious attempt. Tamara’s work in progress £1 million bathtub will be an adornment for her £47 million home in London. The bathtub’s cost is warranted however, if £1 million can ever be justified for a bath accessory. The high-end bathtub will be crafted out of rock crystal sourced from the Amazon. The bathtub experts have already set off on their expedition to find suitable rock crystal. The £1 million price tag will cover the travel and accommodation costs of the bathtub team, pay for the import and polishing of the crystal, and take care of the expenses of overhauling and reinforcing the floor of Tamara’s existing bathroom to make space for the new super-expensive entrant.
The billion-dollar girl descended on Hollywood last week to discuss promoting her upcoming television show “Tamara Ecclestone: Billion Dollar Girl”. She also announced that she would be out house-hunting, looking for homes above the £100 million mark. And if that was not enough, Tamara had tagged along an entourage that included Katie Price’s hair and make-up expert.
Predictably, Tamara refutes allegations of sibling rivalry. She puts it down to “healthy competition” and explains that her parents (both of whom had humble beginnings) kept the sisters grounded. Despite her headline-making extravagant lifestyle, Tamara insists that her sister and she were never spoiled and were taught to appreciate the value of money. That will be put to the test as Tamara and her stockbroker boyfriend Omar Kyhami go looking for 27-acre homes in Beverly Hills.
At the same time, Tamara comes across as an ambitious, career-driven young woman. The Ecclestone heir feels she has a lot to prove and dreams of building her own business. Daddy’s billions will certainly be of help to this young heiress.
