The retro-modern look of the Derringer Cycle makes cycling seem exciting all over again. We love the vintage bicycle feel. This may be no match for Blacktrail, the fastest electric bicycle. It does not have the quirkiness of the Enicycle, nor the swagger of a Ferrari motorcycle or an En Selle Marcel bicycle. But if you are looking for an antique high wheel bicycle for sale, and are open to other options, the Derringer Cycle might be just the thing.
Created by Derringer in collaboration with Restoration Hardware, the Derringer Cycle is a throwback to the 1920s. The designers were inspired by board track racing, a high-speed, high-risk sport that had its heyday in the third decade of the 20th century. The Derringer Cycle is based on those bikes of yesteryear that raced down wooden motordromes at some 100 mph on no throttle. However, the Derringer Cycle is not made for racing at breakneck speed although it features Kevlar-reinforced racing tyres. It is intended to make modern travel more convenient.
Each Derringer Cycle is a bespoke unit that is crafted entirely by hand. The luxury bike operates on a moto-hybrid drive train. This means that riders can switch from pedal to engine power during their commutes. The Derringer Cycle has excellent mileage for a bike of this range. It manages 180 miles per gallon and hits top speeds of 35 mph. The luxury bike is painted in Restoration Hardware’s signature grey and features a black leather saddle with copper rivets. This stunning bike can be yours for $3,500.
