The Al Habtoor Group Announces Plans for a 1,600 Room Luxury Hotel Complex

Dubai always likes to go for the biggest, the best and the most extravagant. Several of their lavish development projects had been affected adversely when the economic downturn was at its peak. The market environment has changed for the better since then. The projects which had slowed down or got stuck have been revived and new grandiose plans are being rolled out. The plans and efforts are now focused on developing Dubai as a tourist destination. The Al Habtoor Group, a UAE-based development firm has announced plans to build a new triple-hotel complex in the heart of the Emirate as part of a $1.3 billion project.

Called the ‘Habtoor Palace,’ the complex will have two sky scrapers that will rise from the same podium base which will be five storey high. It is a grand plan and will be another feather in Dubai’s cap. The planned hotel will add no less than 1,600 rooms to Dubai’s hotel scene. The hotel has been planned and designed as a ‘lifestyle experience.’ It will feature a luxury spa and multiple restaurants and banqueting facilities.

The highlight of the new complex will however be the huge theater which will boast of a hydraulic central stage, water features and movable floors. The shopping arcade is being specially designed and the complex will also house a sports academy. The large complex will also feature almost 37,000 square meters of landscaped gardens. The construction work on the project is scheduled to begin later this year and is expected to be ready for guests sometime in 2015. Hopefully the markets will be strong enough by then to be not affected by the increased supply of rooms.
