The Bentley auctioned at Pebble Beach is 90 years old and as per records of the company, the car bearing the chassis number 3 was bought by their first customer, Noel Van Raalte who took delivery of the car against a payment of £1,150. The car was registered in UK and was allotted the number AX 3827. Bentley, in a statement confirmed that the Chassis number 3 was the oldest Bentley ever made and the aluminum coachwork and brass bright work was original and not redone anytime during the last 90 years. The 3 Liter car is a fine example of company founder W.O. Bentley’s signature craftsmanship and engineering capabilities.
Chairman& Chief Executive of Bentley, Wolfgang Dürheimer agrees that Pebble Beach is the best place to showcase both old and new Bentleys. This year at Pebble Beach was particularly satisfying for Bentley as on the same day that Gooding & Company auctioned the world’s oldest surviving production Bentley, the car maker hosted a private preview of a brand new model.
