America’s Most Expensive Listed Home Has a Price Tag of $190 Million

Copper Beach Farm, a Greenwich, Connecticut home is America’s most expensive property according to its listing price. The 12 bedroom house standing on a 50 acre lot came to the market in May for an asking price of a whopping $190 million. David Ogilvy & Associates who are handling the most expensive listing have released some photographs of the interior of the mansion. The three storey house was originally built in 1896 and is currently owned by timber industrialist John Rudey. He had purchased it from Harriet Lauder Greenway, whose father went into business with steel magnate Andrew Carnegie. It is perhaps the first time that people at large are getting a peek at the interiors of the grand mansion.

The Property Was Originally Evaluated to be Worth Over $200 Million

The main house that can be reached through an 1,800 feet long driveway has many amenities including a wine cellar, several laundries, a tennis court with a viewing pergola and a large pool house alongside the 75-foot heated pool. The property was professionally evaluated and initially the evaluation was fixed at over $200 million. The property is considered special because it has not been modified over the years and still retains its original nineteenth century size. The real estate market of Greenwich has not recovered sufficiently from the meltdown of 2008. However, it is hoped that billionaire homes like Copper Beach Farm coming to the market will help strengthen it and boost the prices up.

Garden on the Property is Maintained by New York Botanical Gardens.
