If it is gold, it has got to be in the Middle East. Therefore, is it any wonder that an iPad 2 made of 24-karat gold has been launched in Dubai? The Middle Eastern city certainly loves luxury living and its love for gold is obvious to all. Now, when we think of a bling bling iPad 2, there is no escaping the iPad 2 Gold History Edition by Stuard Hughes or the diamond-studded iPad that Harrods released. But this iPad 2 from Gold & Co. of London is no wallflower either.
How can it be when it costs a ridiculous 20,000 dirhams? That is $5,500 in American currency. Not that the price is a hurdle at all. Since the release of this gold edition iPad 2, Gold & Co. has already snapped up half a dozen orders for the glittering gadget. The gadget was gold-plated by the London-based company. But this was not the first time that the firm was treading the gold plating path. Gold & Co. had earlier brought out gold plated editions of iPods, iPhones and the original iPad.
Apparently, the iPad 2 was not as easy to gold plate, because unlike its predecessor, the iPad’s components could not be clipped open. This gold plated iPad 2 was first revealed at the Dubai Women’s Exhibition at Jumeirah. It is on display until Thursday, so you still have some time to eye the shiny gadget.
But if gold is not to your taste (or budget), don’t worry. You still have a range of fantastic leather iPad cases to choose from.
