Vintage automobiles, particularly those which are over 100 years old and were amongst the first models of cars made, have become very rare and Bonhams knows it. Bonhams car auction is bringing vintage cars for sale. They have been known for managing the world’s first production Bentley auction and also of the most expensive classic car. They have again brought together some of the last pieces of rare automobiles, including a 1902 Deckert 2-seater. It is probably the last surviving model of its series. It was created in France’s Levallois Perret area and was made by Henri Deckert after whom the name of 2-seater is derived.
The engine of the car looks very basic and simple now as it was made way back in 1902. It has a 864cc single cylinder, which has a power output of 8HP. The transmission is a 4 speed manual with 3 for front moving, and 1 for the reverse gear. The automobile has a cooling mechanism for the engine mounted on the side, much like what Renault, the French car maker does even today. The clutch plate was a singular unit. The body is designed more or less like a horse carriage and has seats for only two adults.
The automobile that reminds you of the horse driven regal carriages has been in the limelight over the years for the races it has won and the awards it has picked up. It has won the London to Brighton vintage car rally it participated for a promotional run at the Circuit du Nord and Circuit des Andennes races. The bidder will get the automobile with all the documentation and photographs of its racing history. The pre sales estimates suggest it will fetch a price in the range of $79,640-87,603.
