15 Central Park West is One of the Most Prestigious Addresses in New York

You might be surprised to find Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein, Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev, Denzel Washington and sting in the same group. They do have something in common. All of them have the same prestigious address in New York. There is no dearth of legendary addresses in New York but 15 Central Park West is way ahead of the others in terms of the class of people who stay there. It is home for the top bankers in the city, celebrities and assorted bold-faced names makes up a unique group of people that is almost impossible to replicate. The building is an ultra luxury condominium on the corner of West 61st Street.

There are many apartment buildings in New York that come with a lot of history and a glorious past. Compared to them 15 Central Park West is a new comer, relatively speaking. Arthur and William Lie Zeckendorf are the developers behind this building. They build the building from scratch in three years flat at a cost of $950 million The building was completed in 2008. The building was able to attract the cream of the elite in New York as it offers an array of amenities including an in-house chef, a skylit lap pool and private screening room. The building has raised the real estate bar in New York. When opened for sale, the building had generated $2 billion. Almost every transaction in the building creates some real estate record or the other.

The building with two sections and 210 units was designed by architect Robert A.M Stern. It’s a premium building in every way. The façade is covered in limestone. The lobby has English Oak panels and marble columns. The list of residents and ex residents is made of the elite from every field. Daniel Loeb, hedge fund manager, bought his 10,700-square-foot 8 bedroom penthouse condo for$45 million back in 2005. Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein bought into the building in 2006. His corner duplex cost him $26 million.

Citigroup CEO Sandy Weill bought a full-floor penthouse for $43.7 million in 2007 and later sold it to Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev for $88 million. Sting, Denzel Washington, sportscaster Bob Costas and Barbara Bradley Baekgaard all own luxurious apartments in 15 Central Park West.
