The auction house sold a Silver Punch Bowl crafted by Cornelius Kiersted in the early 18th century at a whopping price. Initially, the organisers were expecting the bowl to fetch something between $400 and $800,000. But to everyone’s surprise the bid opened at a huge $275,000. And the exciting calling out for prices went on until $5,906,500 was a announced as the clear winner.
The winning bidder has kept his identity a secret. Let us tell you that the Silver Punch Bowl comes from the family of Commodore Joshua Loring of Jamaica Plain, Massachussets. The Loring-Greenough House is now being preserved as an historic site.
