The Shadow Creek Golf Course in North Las Vegas came out of shadows, in a manner of speaking, for the Michael Jordan Celebrity Invitational Golf Tournament, hosted by Aria Resort And Casino. The event was a unique blend of celebrity and philanthropy. In fact, Tom Fazio’s Shadow Creek, one of the most alluring and elite golf courses, was also like a celebrity that people watched and admired. It was perhaps the first time that the course was opened to the general public.
The event raises funds regularly for several causes. The Nevada Cancer Centre Institute is one of the main beneficiaries. Shelley Gitomer from the Institute confirmed that they received $50,000 from the event organizers. Among other recipients of support from the invitational were James R Jordan Foundation and the Make A Wish Foundation. The Nevada Cancer Centre Institute is a leader in cancer research, education, as well as, in hematology/medical oncology therapies in Las Vegas. The event gave the opportunity to the people of Las Vegas to see the best side of the celebrities and some of them were fortunate to play with them on one of the best golf courses in the world.
Shadow Creek looks like a miracle in the middle of the Nevada desert. The course spread over 350 acres cost more than $60 million to build. The Tom Fazio course is surprising green for Nevada and exceptionally private. The course has quiet streams, rushing brooks, weeping willows, waterfalls, ducks, pheasants, rabbits, and stone bridges. A lot of effort and expense has gone into making it look natural. The exclusive course is normally open to only MGM Resort guests. Michael Jordan looking exceptionally fit for his 48 years said that he was as passionate for golf as for basketball and if he had played golf first as a child, he would have become a golfer instead of a basket ball player.
