Hindujas, the Indian billionaire brothers regularly make it to the rich lists, particularly in Britain. They are back in the news for moving into the most expensive home in London. They have spent close to £100 million on a palatial property located near Queen Elizabeth’s iconic Buckingham Palace. The luxury mansion is an old landmark of London and was originally commissioned by King George IV in the 1820s. The mansion with an impressive façade is a combination of four listed properties.
The Hinduja brothers have upstaged all competition from industrialists and stars by acquiring the properties located on the Mall. It is the boulevard in front of the UK’s monarch’s London residence. They have spent an enormous amount of money and five years for the meticulous restoration work under the watchful eyes of English Heritage. John Nash has recreated the charming English façade which is the most distinctive feature of the London’s architecture. The property was originally part of Elizabeth-owned Crown estate, a royal portfolio worth £7.3 billion.
The luxury mansion has six floors. It’s fifty large and spacious rooms are divided into four self contained integrated apartments. One each for the four brothers- Srichand and Gopichand who are based in London, Prakash who operates from Geneva and Ashok who lives in Mumbai. The mansion boasts of a swimming pool and a cinema hall. The mansion features a dining room with a glass table that can seat thirty people. Italian chandeliers and Honduran mahogany paneling adorn the house. Paddy Pugh, director for London of English Heritage, believes that it is the grandest domestic restoration project on such an important building.
