The introduction of Airbus A380 has provided the commercial airlines the space to experiment with luxurious products for the affluent passengers who are willing to pay for additional features and amenities on long flights. The Abu Dhabi based airline Etihad has created a multi-room cabin in its premium class and named it The Residence. The inaugural flight of the newly configured A380 is scheduled on the Abu Dhabi London sector for December 27. The lucky passenger occupying The Residence on the flight will be Gion Bertuccio, a Miami-based businessman. He is not simply a frequent flyer but a compulsive flyer who has flown 22 inaugural and final flights in premium class cabins over the last 25 years.
Bertuccio couldn’t possibly miss the opportunity to be the first to fly in the world’s only private multi-room cabin on a commercial passenger aircraft even if he had to book the most expensive air ticket in civil aviation history. Etihad has not disclosed the price of the ticket as yet but an online check by XPRESS revealed that the return fare on the route may cost Dh155,345. The three room suite named The Residence is spread over 125 square feet on forward upper deck of of Airbus A380. It features a living room, double bedroom and ensuite shower. The living room boast of a two seat reclining sofa, a dining table and a chilled mini bar. The bedroom boasts of 82 inch long double bed, bedside unit, wardrobe and under-bed stowage for hand luggage.
Etihad is backing the ultra luxurious environment with top class personalized service to create the ultimate flying experience for its elite passengers. The personal attention and care will be provided to the traveler by a dedicated concierge team well before the passenger takes off. A Savoy Academy trained butler will be on call throughout the flight. Both rooms feature LCD TVs with Wi-Fi enabled latest Panasonic eX3 entertainment system.
