Orvis Gets 1954 Airstream Flying Cloud Trailer Restored and Redesigned for Auction

The 1950s were the golden period for the mobile home caravan. The travel trailers and the caravans produced in the period had a classical old world charm. You now have an opportunity to own a classic Airstream trailer from the 50s fully restored. Orvis, one of America’s oldest mail-order retailers has got together with Timeless Travel Trailers for the project. They chose a vintage 1954 Airstream Flying Cloud trailer and the Denver based trailer maker, Timeless has fully customized it. Orvis has taken up the project to bring some excitement in the travel trailer market.

Orvis plans to auction the fully customized vintage trailer. The bids will start from $75,000 and is expected to go up to $450,000. You need deep pockets if you want to own it as the estimates range from a minimum of $150,000 to a maximum of $450,000. The Airstream Trailer when it was first built was stationed near Goose Lake in Oregon, and served as a hunting and fishing lodge. Timeless took the trailer to its facility in Denver for a complete makeover.

The interiors have been redesigned completely. The new design retains its vintage look but all the modern and luxurious amenities including an HDTV and a Blu-Ray DVD Player have been seamlessly incorporated in the trailer. Natural hickory wood has been used extensively in the interior. Aged oak flooring and genuine leather upholstery give it a classy look. The running gear has also been changed and modified to meet the highest standards of safety and functionality. If the buyer wishes, it is possible to install air conditioning in the transformed trailer. The auction is on Orvis’s website and will remain live till December 11, 2011.
