Marc Jacobs forays into designing clothes for Plus-Sized Women

Plus sized women have a hard time finding fashionable clothes for themselves. But lately, fashion houses have taken notice of their plight and are trying to come up with designs that suit their heftier frames. Some time back Saks Fifth Avenue announced that will bring in more designers offering plus size options. Now Marc Jacobs is taking cue from this trend and has decided to design clothes for women over the size 14.

Marc Jacobs himself had started out hefty when he had entered the fashion industry. So I guess he could relate better. But the problem with plus size women is that women with the same size might have very different structures. Another problem is that many plus sized women aren’t too keen on spending big bucks on designer clothing. But I guess that is probably because designers usually do not make clothes that flatter their frame. The labels president, Robert Duffy has been tweeting about their new venture.

But I guess all that is changing. We see more plus sized women like singer Beth Ditto coming to fashion shows. The younger plus sized women also are more confident and want to look their best. So Marc Jacobs line would be a welcome addition.
