Almost every other political leader of some fame publishes their memoirs, and most of them fetch a lot of money. Now is the turn for former British Prime Minister Tony Blair who is coming out with his memoirs titled “A Journeyâ€. If reports floating around are correct, Blair was paid an impressive £4.6 million (over $7.3 million) for writing this book. “A Journey†is supposed to come out this September.
Considering that he had a very long tenure at 10 Downing Street, I am sure there will be a lot of info that we might find interesting to read. The memoir will come out in hardback, audio and digital download format. There will also be a limited edition coming out that will have the autograph of the famous leader. It will be signed, slip-cased and cloth-bound in red, and will be sold for $240.
In the past, special editions of the memoirs of political leaders have fetched quite high prices. Last year, Ted Kennedy’s memoir, “True Compass” sold for $1,000. President Clinton’s gigantic “My Life” fetched $350 and a leather-bound version of President Reagan’s memoir “An American Life” received an amazing $1,500 way back in 1990.
