Pay $60,000 To Live In The Highest Penthouse In New York

How would you like to live in the highest penthouse in North America? Such a penthouse in New York could be yours for the taking provided you can afford the rent of $60,000 per month. The $60,000 monthly rate is for the 4-bedroom penthouse apartment. If that is above your rental budget, consider the two adjacent 3-bedroom properties for $45,000 a month. Renting a home in New York is known to be expensive, but few penthouse apartments in the Big Apple can compare in price and luxury to the three penthouse residences available for rent at the top of New York by Gehry, currently the tallest residential building in the Americas.

Designed by Pritzker Prize-winning Frank Gehry, residences in the building score high on style and luxury, none more so than the three penthouse apartments that sit at the very top, on the 76th floor. Rentals at the New York by Gehry are being managed by New Development Marketing at Citi Habitats. Cliff Finn, the president of the organization, is reported to have said that for $60,000, one can live higher than the helicopters. Being 850 feet above the ground has several advantages. Not only do you get to look down on passing helicopters, but you also acquire a magnificent view of New York City; the view should hopefully last a long time, unless someone decided to give New York’s tallest residential building a run for its money.

Currently, renters at these luxury penthouses can see as far as the Catskill Mountains. They can watch the emergence of the One World Trade building, gaze at the Atlantic Ocean, admire the Tappan Zee Bridge and the Statue of Liberty, and even the Woolworth Building is an uninterrupted view away. But there is more to these apartments than just the stunning view. Indeed, these are state-of-the-art homes. Illumination is remote-controlled. The floors are of marble and limestone. The bathrooms are suitably fancy; prepare to be stunned by the Duravits tubs and the Toto Eco Nexus toilets. Move into the kitchen and you will fall in love with the six-burner Miele stoves as well as the Sub-Zero icemakers.

If you decide to go for the 4-bedroom unit, you will undoubtedly be residing at the most magnificent penthouse in New York. Not only is it the highest home in the Western hemisphere, but it offers 3,800 square feet and comes with an extra studio unit, presumably to serve as staff quarters. Residents of the penthouses naturally have access to the other facilities housed in the building. New York by Gehry houses, among other things, a Pilates room, an indoor pool, a spa suite, a grilling terrace and a baby grand piano.

Located on 8 Spruce Street, this skyscraper towers over the Manhattan skyline. The location is terrific too, which adds to the cost of the penthouses. According to Finn, the prices match the rental rates for similar homes in other posh addresses like Waldorf Astoria and 15 Central Park West. The price is steep, but you have to pay through your nose if you wish to live in a building designed by the great Frank Gehry. They say he took care of even the littlest details. $60,000 is not cheap. But if you are rich enough, it will be worth it.
