The high end property market is buzzing with activity again. The ultra high end offering are hitting the market with persistent regularity. The latest is the no.6 Cornwall Terrace. You realize that it is no normal terrace house when you go to see it. The butler makes you take your shoes off as a precautionary measure to protect the floors and the carpets. You must check the place that will cost you £39 million, wearing blue plastic bags over your shoes or little open ended slippers.
No.6 Cornwall Terrace is an architectural marvel designed by the royal architect Sir John Nash in the early 19th century. There are a total of eight such grand residences looking right over the hedge of Regent’s Park. They will all be readied for sale soon for a total price of in the region of £400 million. It will easily qualify as the world’s most expensive terrace.
The entire terrace served as the office, for some time, the property company British Land. It has since been taken over by the developer Oakmayne Properties. The terrace’s alabaster-pillared exterior has been retained but the interiors have been turned into what they call ‘ambassadorial’ homes. Nine different types of marbles have been used and the walls have been finished in raw silk with gilded platinum.
