Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve Launched with its Sight on the Top Spot

Glenlivet, the first licensed distillery in Scotland has set its sight on the top spot and is pulling out all stops to become the global number one single malt whisky in the world. Glenlivet is currently the number two behind Glenfiddich, which is currently, number one. The distillery has an elaborate plan in place backed by a $15 million budget. They will be increasing the production by as much as 75%.

Six new copper pot stills are being installed that will replicate the existing seven long-necked stills. This is a big move for the distillery and to celebrate the event, Glenlivet has issued a special limited-edition Founder’s Reserve single malt scotch. 1,824 individually numbered bottles have been produced. The number was determined as a tribute to George Smith’s 1824 founding of Glenlivet. Founder’s Reserve has been priced at $375.

Alan Winchester, the newly appointed master distiller at Glenlivet has sourced some of the most flavorful casks in the distillery’s celebrated cellars. The 21-year-old, non-chill-filtered Founder’s Reserve is brimming with orange marmalade, dried fruits, and sweet toffee along with Glenlivet’s signature floral notes. Cheers, to Glenlivet’s shot at the top spot in the world of single malts. Watch this space for Glenfiddich’s response to retain their position.
