The Burj Al Arab Ashtray Is Among The World’s Most Expensive At $7,250

You cannot help being amazed at the things people buy. And at the huge amounts that they spend. A couple of days ago, I was struck by the $199 Bagped, a workplace stand for your bag and belongings. But even that pales in comparison to this luxury buy – an ashtray that costs $7,250.

A $7,250 price tag is huge enough anyway. But when you consider the product it is attached to, you really wonder what the world is coming to. The expensive ashtray in question bears the Burj Al Arab logo. No wonder. Burj Al Arab is a Dubai hotel that takes its luxury tag very seriously. This luxury property has seven stars to its name. Moreover, a single night spent at one of its rooms can set you back by a four-digit sum. So obviously, this luxury hotel caters to the top-end of wealthy consumers.

But what is it about the Burj Al Arab ashtray that makes it so expensive? A site called Opulent Items, which concentrates on “unusual luxury”, enumerates the ashtray’s high-end features. The ashtray itself is made of borosilicate glass. What pushes up the price is the presence of three fine diamonds. Each of these is a 0.15-karat diamond in G color with VVS 1 purity. The placement of the three diamonds is done so as to resemble gems placed in a crown.

It certainly is an expensive buy. And once you place an order, it will be a long wait. The Opulent Items site states that shipping will take eight to twelve weeks.
