Steampunk art is all about using modern technology to bring to life the style and sensibility of the Victorian period. New York City’s Steampunk enthusiasts will be in for a big treat next month as the The Architectural Design Magazine Home Show gets underway. Art Donovan of Donovan Design will be launching his first show in the Big Apple.
From 17 to 20 March, Steampunk aficionados will surely be thronging The Architectural Design Magazine Home Show as Donovan showcases his collection of “Steampunk Modern” illuminated designs. Also on the list is a signing of Donovan’s newest book. The book is called The Art of Steampunk. The Art Donovan blog on Typepad has posted part of a review that promises that Donovan’s book is a “gorgeous introduction to Steampunk” for those who are new to it, adding that the book is a great resource for art ideas.
But that is not all. Donovan has come up with a great way to fuel buzz about his upcoming maiden show in New York City. The designer has launched a Facebook page about his March exhibition. He is waiting for 2,500 “likes” from Facebook users. Once that happens, all those who “liked” the page will have automatically entered Donovan’s Steampunk raffle. The big prize is one of the Steampunk lamps from Donovan’s collection. Does it get any better?
Well, the lamp is not the only thing on offer at this raffle. There will also be five lucky runners-up who will take home original, signed Steampunk posters from the Oxford University Museum exhibit.
