Walt Disney’s Los Angeles Mansion Is Up For Sale

How would you like to live in Walt Disney’s mansion? In 1932, Disney built a 12-room mansion for $50,000. That famous luxury mansion is now up for sale. The asking price is $3.65 million. Apart from covering a huge space, this retro home comes with a projection and screening room, a rare feature considering it was built in 1932. Back in the old days, this room served as Disney’s home office. He watched daily takes from the studio on this home screening area.

Located in the posh Los Felize area of Los Angeles, the Walt Disney mansion has is a gated home that offers both privacy and an address in a prime location. Those who associate Disney as the man behind Mickey Mouse and so many other famous and lovable cartoon characters, might be surprised that this celebrity home is no Disney World. There are no fairytale creatures walking up and down the garden. There are no amusement park rides or Mickey Mouse characters welcoming you at the gate. None of the fun we have come to associate with Walt Disney.

Instead, this luxury mansion built by Disney has a very old world charm. The architecture is largely inspired by Mediterranean homes. The circular rotunda-style building features intricately painted ceilings that give the home a retro European feel. The 12 rooms are spread over two storeys. One of the best spaces in the house is the two-storey living room that features spandrels of wrought iron and vaulted beamed ceilings. Buyers will appreciate that the home still bears the original leaded stained glass that Disney had ordered for the home. Disney had several other homes in Los Angeles. But he lived in this one-acre property for close to 18 years.
