Vegas has a brand new spot to say your vows! Yes, the Palms Casino Resort now boasts of a newly created chapel quaintly named ‘Till Death Do Us Part’. Its an 800-square-foot room that is set to become the Instagram rage. The Palms which is known all over for its distinct blend of street art as well as eclectic and contemporary display, has always had a unique style of presentation of the arts and culture of Vegas. One can see the original works of known artists like Andy Warhol, Takashi Murakami, Jason Revok, et al, here as well as artists from across the town too.
The product was shaped up by Tal Cooperman, the creative director of Palms and street artist Josh Vides. Of Gautemalan origin, Vides is known as the creator of the concept, “From Reality to Idea.” Vides has a variety of brand collaborations in his satchel to boast of such as Puma, Herschel, Nike and Mercedes Benz.
He admits to having a different approach on collaborations, accepting and pruning ideas to suit the creative concept. He was happy with the creative freedom he enjoyed during his stint with the Palms, as it gave him an opportunity to showcase his work alongside “some of the greatest artists of our time.” The chapel is built with a metal skeleton with a wood exterior. The benches and the alter are made of maple wood.
Cooperman was all praise for this young artist, whom he has seen grow during his career, and felt that he would be able to bring in a fresh perspective in terms of decorative art. The idea occurred to Cooperman when he saw guests frequently take snaps of the hotel’s masterpieces. He was inspired to create more mingling moments for the guests and he was decided on his choice of Vides for this dream project.
Aware that social media today influences people’s tastes in art and design, Vides who himself has more than a million followers on Instagram, saw this as an opportunity to let people attempt to use the installation to enhance their own creativity. This leads to interchanneling of concepts and the resulting fusion is another work of art. The artist, however, banks on his creativity to expand with time and withstand any trend that may follow hereafter.
This being the generation of selfie-concerned youth, it only goes to show that the new concept of an Instagrammable wedding chappel has arrived just in time for the masses to quench their need for prettier photo-ops. Though the concept is not a new one, having already had the popping up of a Museum of Ice Cream and other such places, this one is by far the front-runner. Singular hastags and photo finishes are now in demand among couples and the influence of Instagram on weddings is becoming more and more obvious.
Available through spring, “Till Death Do Us Part” also has Etsy providing a choice of flower and other visual décors.
