New York Hotel heiress Leona Helmsley was known as the Queen of Mean, and was quite famous for severing ties with her family, and living her little white Maltese named Trouble. Trouble sure was a lucky dog who got all the luxury that a dog could ask for, and all the luxury that you and I could only dream about getting.
Leona was herself in various controversies, and was even penalized for evading tax, but what really set off the negative image about her among the masses is that she did not give money to anyone, and left the bulk of her estate worth $12 million to her dog, Trouble. Trouble passed away at the age of 12, and it was the richest lapdog in the world. The dog had almost $12 million in its account, and now it is not clear who will inherit the rest of the money. The dog apparently died in December, and its death was only reported now.The dog faced several threats of being kidnapped and killed for its money. It even had a security professional of its own. Leona had in her will written that the dog’s every need must be met, and that it should die in the midst of luxury. The dog’s death and its burial have been quite controversial as it is not clear where all the money would go now. It probably might be given to charity, or the family members might fight for it. If you had all the money in the world, and hated people around you, would you leave it all to your pet? I would leave it to my cat of course.
