The Most Beautiful Book for Michelangelo Admirers

Which true art lover does not admire Michelangelo? And to own an art book dedicated to the great artist would be a pride in itself! The art book presented as “the most beautiful in the world” is dedicated to Michelangelo who was an Italian Renaissance painter, sculptor, architect, poet and engineer.
Flaminio Gualdoni, scientific director of FMR editions, the Italian group specializing in magazines and books art luxury which publishes the book with a sculpted marble cover, the book, entitled “Michelangelo, The dotta mano” (Michelangelo, the main scholarly), proposed a text on parchment with ink after old recipes. Priced at a whopping 100,000 euros you wouldn’t mind it considering it to be a priceless work of art.
The book is top of 68 cm and 42 cm wide when closed.The marble cover, a reproduction carved by hand of the bas-relief “The Virgin and Staircase”, was the first work performed by Michelangelo at the age of 15 years, was always kept in his possession. It is a book of 264 pages, with engravings, photographs and texts. The pages are in custody marbled paper gold. The book weighs 24 kg, excluding the lacquered wooden box in which it is presented. There are a limited number of 99 copies.

  • LOL, “La Dotta Mano” does not translate as “the main scholarly”…. but rather “The Learned Hand”. Do not trust online translation applications, they are rubbish…

    A stunning edition, but it’s much less expensive (& much more enriching!) to organise a Michelangelo tour around Italy, staying in the best hotels, getting a private guide & viewing his work for real.
