James Cameron’s smash hit ‘Avatar’ has caught everybody’s imagination. The fictional world of Pandora was a treat to the eyes. The man behind it was Federico B. Alliney, and he has been roped in by Alfa Romeo for creating some Avatar inspired cars. The link between him and the company goes way back as he explains: “In my family since my ancestors there have always been Alfa Romeos.â€
“ It’s as if these cars are linked to our inner self and to the essence of the earth, I have never been able to explain this rationally and from there my research continues, but these mechanical sculptures transcend the simple notion of movement, they are something vital transmitting emotions and attracts us to them. Their lines are always original, the simplicity of certain details which are perfectly balanced. And then there is the most perfect encounter between aesthetics and mechanics. The mechanical elements do not seem to result from an engineering exercise but have their roots in a work of art which rises above the limits of its body and its invisible auraâ€.
He has created seven paintings using the “painting with light†technique, giving these images a touch of reality. Only 30 prints of each painting will be made. These paintings have been named “Disco Idroâ€, “100â€, “Dorian Redâ€, “Indomabileâ€, “La Bella e la bestiaâ€, “Route 66†and “Una serata a casaâ€.
