The Grand Del Mar Earns 3 Five-Star Awards From Forbes Travel Guide

For the hospitality industry, the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star award is a big deal. And a San Diego hotel, The Grand Del Mar, has finally made the cut. This is the first time that a luxury hotel in San Diego has earned Five Stars from Forbes Travel Guide. But the distinctions do not end there. The Grand Del Mar has earned not one, but three Five-Star awards this year, for Lodging, Spa and Dining. It is the only luxury hotel in California to win three awards from Forbes Travel Guide. Only four other American hotels share this distinction – The Cloister at Sea Island, Georgia; Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas; The Umstead Hotel & Spa, North Carolina; and The Broadmoor, Colorado.

Moreover, Forbes has really high parameters. Only 57 hotels around the world are holders of the 2012 Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star Lodging award. These awards have redefined worldwide luxury in hospitality for five decades now. What convinced Forbes to bring The Grand Del Mar into the Five-Star Lodging family? It would have to be The Grand Del Mar’s commitment to providing the best of luxury.

It does not end there. This is the second year that The Spa at The Grand Del Mar has received the Five-Star award. Spread over 21,000 square feet, The Spa features Renaissance-inspired interiors and scores high on its luxurious treatments. Meanwhile, the Addison, The Grand Del Mar’s signature restaurant, gets the recognition for the third time. Look at the honors in the right context. Only 30 spas and 25 restaurants can boast of having received a Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star award.
