Spyker, which is the known for making hand-built exotic cars, is now being sold to a Russian billionaire. Russian financier Vladimir Antonov, who owns CPP Global Holdings in the UK is going to buy the Spyker business, and the memo of understanding regarding the deal has been signed. This sale might be made for $44 million, and this would help the company decrease its financial debts.
Spyker, which had bought Saab from General Motors in 2010, will now try to revive and focus on the Saab. Spyker is a small company that works in a huge automobile industry and it would need more funds and hence this decision was taken. The company sold only 36 cars in the year 2009, and the price tag for a Spyker car is around $280,000-$300,000.
Saab sold 31,696 cars worldwide in 2010, and lesser than 6,000 of those in the US. The price for a Saab car starts off at $28900 for the 9-3 sedan to $39990 for the 9-3 convertible, and $38525 for the 9-5 Saab Sedan. Saab has a following of slightly peculiar customers and they want to hold that place in the market. The cars have always had the ignition in the center console and the new Saab 9-4x that share a similar platform as the Cadillac SRX, will be coming into showrooms later this year.
