Sip On The Oldest Whiskey In The World

The world was given the scent of the oldest and rarest Scotch whiskies at the TFWA World Exhibition by Whyte & Mackay owner Dr Vijay Mallya. Called 50yo expression of The Dalmore, this liquor was distilled 140 years ago and lets you savour the real taste of the era gone by; an offer that perhaps cannot be surpassed by any other brand name.

Basking in the glory of exculsivity, 50yos has only 191 hand-blown Portuguese crsytal decanters being produced. 50 out of these will be made available to travel retailers. The rest will give add to the bars across the world with a limited-edition silver neck tag and will be individually numbered. Also, a handwritten letter from The Dalmore’s creator Richard Peterson will accompany each bottle.

Buzz is that The Dalmore 50yo has a retail price of 700 pounds per unit of alcohol, that means 5000 pounds is be charged for a full-sized 70cl bottle and up to 800 pounds a dram in on-trade outlets.

Already becoming a rage, the whisky is described as soft and elegant bringing a burst of flavours to you. It tastes of organe peel and liquorice initially, revealing the tastes of almonds and cinnamon.
