Second Growth: Davidoff’s wine inspired cigar

Davidoff has come out with a cigar that is inspired by wine! The cigar makers have come out with some of the most well known cigars till date. The company’s blending guru Hendrik “hence” Kelner, has released some masterpieces such as the Puro d’Oro, and De La Concha house cigar. These two were welcome additions to the Davidoff line in decades. The wine inspired cigar that we are talking about is called Second Growth. Not sure why it has been named that, but what is in the name anyway.

The cigar has been specially created for wine importer Eric Hanson. Club Macanudo in Manhattan was chosen as the place for its launch, which took place on May 26, 2010.  David Savona of Cigar Aficionado says that the Second Growth cigar sticks are on the mild side, and go very well with wines. Nothing to be surprised here.

The interesting twist here is that the cigar boxes are also made of the wood from wine barrels. Hanson said that, “I purchased 50 barrels from a second-growth Bordeaux chateau.” Only 1,000 boxes were made. Each cigar stick, which is sized 7 ¼ by 54, sells for $32.50 each.
