Yachts are synonymous with luxury but the recent trends indicate that there is an effort by the industry to create eco-friendly yachts. Sauter Carbon is the name that comes up most prominently when you talk about the eco-friendly yachts and tenders and they have recently unveiled their latest concept which is 42 meter long and called Ocean Supremacy. They were the ones to create the first carbon neutral yacht and also the Zero carbon super yacht. Their new concept is the fastest and the greenest luxury yacht in the world.
The vessel is capable of a top speed of 53 knots which makes it practically pirate proof. The engines provide this power at 50% lower fuel consumption. The main source of power on the yacht is a 9MW hybrid propulsion system. It is also supported by solar power, wind energy, wave, and biomass diesel fuel. A 70KW marine solar array collects power and stores it in a 2MW Llyods approved Lithium-ion based UPS which is capable of moving the yacht at 14 knots speed. A 200KW inflatable traction kite utilizes the wind energy and can take the yacht on a completely carbon neutral cruising.
The new yacht also boasts of a 50KW motion damping regeneration system for charging batteries. It is the third carbon neutral cruising mechanism on the yacht. In addition the yacht has a dual V16 (bio-diesel compatible) series 2000 Tier 4i MTU gen set, will generate around 1MW of power each. Two Siemens electric motors of 1.5 MW each, in support with the other mechanisms gives the vessel a top speed of 53 knots. There is no compromise on luxury and amenities. The yacht features five guest rooms including the master suite which boasts of ensuite bathroom and walk-in dressing room with a vanity counter. Ten guests and eight crew members can travel at great speeds in great comfort.
