Hemisphere, the world’s largest luxury sailing catamaran was made for a Hong Kong based business man. It was unveiled recently and has bounced back in the news by being at the center of the Fantasy Auction held last week in New York. The Green Auction at Christie’s attracted an affluent crowd led by Hollywood’s elite including Glenn Close. It was a glittering night of entertainment and the cream of the society seemed to be in attendance. The mega rich from the city participated in the auction enthusiastically that was organized to raise money for critical environmental causes.
The event saw a heated bidding for a seven day sail aboard the new luxury catamaran Hemisphere. The charitable cause was of course the driving force but the attraction of sailing in the largest catamaran was reason enough to drive the final bid price to a significant $150,000 which is a record for any fund raising event for A Bid to Save the Earth. The 145 feet long super catamaran is being offered for charter by super yacht specialists Burgess. They had valued the charter package at $245,000 but the lower bid price will also create a new benchmark for environmental fundraising initiatives. Oceana which is a nonprofit organization working to restore world’s oceans will receive 100% of the funds raised from the Hemisphere auction.
Hemisphere will become available for charter from this summer. The winner of the bid go on a sailing trip with ten or twelve of his friends. They can choose from a cruise along Croatia or the Caribbean. They are both wonderful destinations and Hemisphere’s innovative design enables you to access shallow, secluded coves and bays off the beaten path making the sail a truly memorable one. The luxury catamaran has a crew of ten that includes a gourmet chef. The successful bidder at the auction is really lucky to be one of the first to be sailing on Hemisphere.
