Rost Niderehe Architects have created a new generation real hose boat in the architectural style of villas with many windows and terraces over looking the Eilbek Kanal where it is based. The idea was to create a house boat with the characteristics of a boat and the comforts of a traditional home. And the architects have done a wonderful job of keeping the formal architectural language simple, clear and sober.
The spaces for public use are located on the upper deck which is actually the entrance level. The living room and bedrooms or the spaces for private use are located on the lower deck. The material used for making the house boat are influenced by both naval architecture as well as normal building construction. It is stationed in the middle of the city of Hamburg surrounded by the natural greenery of Eilbek Kanal.
It is fairly simple to change the location of the mooring. The house boat can be moved to its new destination with the help of a tug. The huge amount of positive feedback for this initiative indicated that there is great demand for this kind of living. Though there are no official mooring areas as yet but Germany has a new houseboat generation.
