Ruby Slippers Worn by Judy Garland in Wizard of Oz to be Auctioned

After handbags, shoes are the accessories that attract women the most. They can never have enough of shoes. Even if they have ten pairs they would always like to have the next one that will go perfectly with the new dress they have or simply because it is the most stylish piece they have ever seen. There is good news for the fashionistas who are not constrained to reconsider because of price. A pair of shoes is coming to the market and for all you know could qualify as the world’s most expensive pair of shoes.

It is the ruby slippers that Judy Garland wore in the movie ‘The Wizard of Oz’. The shoes, specially made for the movie are studded with elegant and precious stones. Its celebrity connection also adds to its value and the pre sales estimates being made by experts place its value to be between $2.6 million and $3.8 million. If the shoe hits the upper estimate at the slipper auction it will become the most expensive shoes in the world. California auction house Profiles in History is holding a three day Icons of Hollywood auction and the Ruby Slippers will be the highlight of the auction.

Some other props from the same movie have been sold earlier by the same auction house. Cowardly Lion costume and the Wicked Witch’s hat from the same movie fetched high prices in earlier auctions. The Ruby slippers are the original pair of shoes that Judy Garland wore in the 1939 classic film. The shoes have authentic leather soles that are painted red. The auction will take place on December 16 this year but the exact location will be decided later. The auction is expected to attract bidders from across the world. The glamorous ruby slippers have become even more desirable seven decades after it was made famous by the movie.
