Dorothy’s Red Slippers Get Many Modern Interpretations

It was just a little while ago that we were talking about the very much aspired for Cinderella slippers that became a reality thanks to Martin Margiela. So much about the fairytales that we love to read about. Coming to the movie part of it, can you recall the most iconic shoes ever? Yeah, you got it right; we are referring to Dorothy’s ruby slippers. Much famed as The Wizard of Oz shoes, these have been reinvented by the top shoe makers in the world at the behest of Warner Bros.

Sparkling Swarovski Crystallised Elements (here they go again!) in red decorate this spectacular, fashion footwear. This little effort had 19 designers showcasing their modern version of Dorothy’s red slippers. The participants included names like Jimmy Choo, Manolo Blahnik, Roger Vivier, Moschino and Alberta Ferreti.

The shoes were all displayed at the Swarovski store in Soho from September 15-23 and now they all are up for auction with the proceeds going to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
