Rich man Roman Abramovich is doing quite a bit with his little toy that is already being celebrated as the largest and most expensive privately owned yacht in the world. Well, we did talk about the new 557-ft Eclipse in this space some time back and here is some more. The dreamboat has been lent a military-grade missile defese system complete with armor plating and bullet-proof windows.
Apparently, this wasn’t all for its owner because the Russian ogliarch has just decided to further upgrade the yacht with a high-tech anti-photo shield meant to keep the paparazzi at bay. Boy, oh boy! This unique system works on infrared lasers that detect any digi cam lens nearby and block it.
Reports are that the anti-photo shield system has let the total cost of the Eclipse over the $1 billion mark. Some 150 engineers took this beauty on a test drive. Well, with so much money being spent on this toy and the delivery date approaching (please read December 22) the workers do not want to keep any stone unturned in creating this historical water traveller.
