Relais & Chateaux, a global association of luxury restaurants and hotels is making a Grand Chef dinner into an annual event. It was just last year that the association had organized the Relais & Chateaux Grands Chefs dinner at the Galerie des Batailles at the Chateau de Versailles in France. The success and the response to the event was such that they have made it into an annual event that will travel around the world. This year the food lover’s fantasy will come true in New York as the event is being organized at Gotham Hall in New York on April 16.
The event will see a multi course dinner prepared by 45 top chefs of the association. The chefs will be travelling from around the world and prepare all dish with the finest American produce, meat, fish and cheese. The prominent chefs who will be participating in this year’s event include Daniel Boulud of Daniel in New York, Jean-Andre Charial of Oustau de Beaumaniere in Les Baux-de-Provence, France, Andrew Fairlie of Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles Hotel in Perthshire, Scotland, Yoshinori Shibuya of La Becasse in Osaka, Japan, Jean-Georges Vongerichten of Jean-Georges in New York, and Michael White of Marea in New York.
Several teams of three chefs each will be formed. One chef in each team will prepare the first course with cold lobster. The second chef will prepare the second course with sea bass or diver scallops. The third chef in the team will prepare the main course with either veal or lamb. The guests will be seated on tables of ten. The event in New York will celebrate the coming of age of American products, farmers and artisanal producers. The tickets to the grand dinner are being sold for $1,500 and it will benefit Citymeals-on-Wheels. It will be a great opportunity for the guests to meet many of the world’s top chefs at one place. The event is scheduled to be held in London next year.
