Jumping hour watches are a rarity mainly because it is a type difficult to realise owing to its complicated design. It is indeed a challenge to keep the watch dial sufficiently occupied and ensure that the time display looks natural. And even when these two are achieved, the biggest task at hand is to place the digital hour window while maintaining the style and comfort because the disc underneath the dial proves to be a hurdle.
But Popular Swiss watch maker Raymond Weil likes such challenges, it seems. His new creation is the Don Giovanni Jump Hour Watch which is defined in a curved rectangular case. The dial is unusual as it is filled with round shapes while the tapered hour window hints of a frame. Characteristic of a jump watch, the seconds get placed in a subsidiary dial. The 38mm by 50mm case comes in two options – 18 carat rose gold and stainless steel. The thickness is 13mm.
The extraordinary timepiece gets its power from automatic RW Caliber 1400 which is actually a modified version of ETA 2892. Experts say that the mechanical movement of the watch beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. There is a choice between the leather strap and the highly polished metal bracelet.
