Porsche Adds Two New Models to its Driver’s Selection Range of Bikes

The automobile manufacturers, particularly in Europe, often try their designing skills at creating other modes of transport. Their focus has often been on bicycles and they have designed some great bikes over the years. BMW, Audi, McLaren and Porsche have been designing and producing bikes for years now. Porsche has recently designed two new bikes in its Driver’s Selection range. The new models have been named the Bike RS and the Bike S. Both the models have 29-inch wheels and have been made with lightweight materials to enhance performance.

Bike RS weighs in at around 9kg. The weight has been restricted to a low level due to the extensive use of carbon fiber in the frame, forks, handlebars, stem and seat post. Apart from being light carbon fiber offers the rider higher stability and damping characteristics. The components used in the bike are also the best in their category like Shimano XTR 20 speed gearing, weight-optimized carbon brake levers, Magura hydraulic disc brakes, Crank Brothers wheels, and smooth rolling tires. The bike is available in three standard sizes – small, medium and large. Since it is a Porsche bike, it is priced at $7,820.

Bike S comes with a frame of 7005 hydroforming aluminum but uses carbon fiber for the forks. It weighs about 11 kgs and features hydraulic disc brakes and a 11 speed Alfine internal hub gear system. It is a relatively simpler bike and has been priced at around $4,690. The bikes in both the models come with a unique code number  and QR code that is printed on a label located on the frame. The numbers help the user register them on a website and report in case of theft. The bikes are ready for delivery and will be available from official Porsche centers around the world.
